Discover the beauty of charcoal on paper!
My practice explores the relationship between personal memory and the natural world, considering how landscape shapes our emotional experience and sense of place. Working primarily in charcoal on paper and mixed media such as watercolour, ink and pastel, I create contemporary works that combine mark-making with atmosphere, harnessing the richness and immediacy of each medium to evoke spaces that feel both familiar and quietly resonant.

Rendered in rich layers of charcoal, Silent Strength captures the timeless presence of the rhinoceros — a creature both formidable and fragile. Every fold of its weathered skin and the curve of its iconic horn speak of resilience shaped by centuries of survival, while the soft grasses and brooding sky hint at the delicate balance of its existence. The stark monochrome palette emphasises contrast: power and vulnerability, permanence and impermanence. This work invites viewers to contemplate not only the majesty of the rhino but also the pressing need to protect such beings from vanishing into memory.
